Operating room

With general anaesthesia, you may think that you are ‘asleep’ but it’s not the same thing - it is not like normal sleep. You are actually kept in a state of carefully controlled unconsciousness by means of a mixture of potent drugs that your anaesthetist has given you. During this state you do not have any conscious control over certain functions of your body, such as breathing, swallowing, and control of temperature.
